Covers medically necessary services and supplies used for diagnosing and treating medical conditions, and preventative services for illness prevention and/or early detection. Examples include ambulance services, mental health care, outpatient procedures and clinical research. Premiums are paid monthly, and copays, coinsurance and/or deductibles may apply.

Covers services offered in Medicare Parts A & B, and often Part D as well. Medicare Advantage Plans are managed by private insurance companies, and often include additional coverage for hearing/vision/dental/health and/or wellness programs. An additional monthly premium to Part B premiums usually apply.

Covers the cost of prescription drugs, and may lower the cost of other prescriptions. Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage plans are managed by Medicare-contracted private companies, and are available to all individuals with Medicare.
